Recent Programs: at Harvard Hillel; at Yeshivat Hesder Petach Tikva
A program was held at the Hillel of Harvard University on Wedenesday evening December 2. Organized in conjunction with our Institute, the program featured a presentation by Rabbi Marc D. Angel on his new book, "Maimonides, Spinoza and Us: Toward an Intellectually Vibrant Judaism". The large attendance included Harvard students who are members of the Institute's University Network. The program was arranged through the efforts of Rabbi Benjamin Greenberg at the Harvard Hillel. Copies of Rabbi Angel's book were given to students through the generous sponsorship of John and Marjory Lewin, in memory of Ellis Somekh.
The Institute is getting involved in programming in Israel. Our first event was serving as a co-sponsor of a symposium at Yeshivat Hesder Petach Tikvah, Rehov Yad leVanim 30, beginning at 3:30 pm on December 7. The program featured lectures on the general theme: Jewish Culture: The Relationship of Israel and the Nations of the World. Participants included Rabbi Yuval Cherlow, the Rosh Yeshiva; Dr. Assaf Malakh and Dr. Udi Lebel.
If you would like your community to work with the Institute to plan a program, please communicate with Rabbi Marc D. Angel: mdangel@jewishideas.org Our goal is to spread our message of an intellectually vibrant, compassionate and inclusive Orthodox Judaism.
