Important Information for University Network members

Dear Students,

I am very excited to be the new coordinator of the University Network and to be the director of the Campus Fellowship Program of the Institute of Jewish Ideas and Ideals.  The University Network provides a forum for students to ask questions and explore issues pertaining to Orthodox Judaism and to converse with other students about Orthodoxy.   In an effort to expand the reach of the University Network and make it more accessible to students across university campuses, we are launching our first ever Campus Fellowship Program.  Campus Fellows will be responsible for creating a branch of the University Network on their campus and will implement a minimum of 2 programs per semester.  Each Campus Fellow will also be expected to recruit more students to the University Network.   Campus Fellows will receive a stipend for their work.  As a reminder, applications for the Campus Fellowship are due January 15th, 2011 and must be emailed to [email protected].  The application follows below.

I also encourage each one of you to sign up for our online discussion group by sending an email to  [email protected].  We will be launching a new initiative where each week, a question or topic about Orthodoxy will be posted and students will be encouraged to share their thoughts, questions, feelings, challenges, etc. relating to the topic.  Students will also have the opportunity to present their own topic to the weekly discussion.  Topics can be emailed to [email protected]and each week, one topic will be chosen for the discussion group.

I welcome any feedback and thoughts from you.  What is your biggest challenge as a university student living a Jewish lifestyle?  What would you like to see with the Institute for Jewish Ideas and Ideals and how do you believe that it could assist you in your Jewish practice in university?

Please feel free to be in contact with me if you have any questions about the University Network or ideas about how we can make it better for your sake.

 Alisa
