University Network of the Institute for Jewish Ideas and Ideals

We are pleased to announce the establishment of a University Network,
open to Jewish university students looking for an intellectually
vibrant, compassionate, and inclusive Orthodox Judaism. We ask students
to register online on our website, www.jewishideas.org,
and be sure to check the box indicating "student." Students will
receive free subscriptions to our journal, Conversations, and will also be
able to participate in the University Network online discussion group.

Updates and Offerings for University Network Members

Shalom uvrakha, and all good wishes.

Here are a few items of interest for members of the University Network of the Institute for Jewish Ideas and Ideals:

1.  Devora Chait, our Campus Fellow at Queens College, has been involved in organizing a rally on behalf of the Uyghur Muslims in China. She wrote the following paragraph, and hopes that you will attend if you are able to do so.

Shalom uvrakha,

I hope your academic year has been going well.

We are now recruiting Campus Fellows for the coming academic year. Campus Fellows receive a stipend and expense money and are obligated to arrange two programs per semester that focus on issues relating to modern Orthodoxy, Torah study, religious life etc. Rabbi Hayyim Angel serves as Director of our Campus Fellows Program. For more information and an application, please see  https://www.jewishideas.org/university-network/application

Where Are Our Teachers?

Shalom uvrakha, and best wishes to all members of our University Network. I'm including in this emailing an article by Rachel Delia Benaim, reflecting on her frustrations with contemporary Modern Orthodox rabbinic leadership. It raises important issues, and I invite you to share your thoughts by emailing [email protected]

University Network and Campus Fellows Update

Shalom uvrakha, Rabbi Daniel Braune-Friedman heads our Campus Fellows program, and has prepared this short report:

The Jewish Ideas Campus Fellowship Spring Semester has begun! We are happy to welcome three new fellows joining us this month. From New York University fellow Danielle Panitch, from University of Texas Elan Kogutt and from Yeshivat Chovevei Torah, Eli Yoggev. Each brings a unique brand of Modern Orthodoxy and we wish them success in their important work.
